From 11–15 December, project partners met in Baku for an intensive workshop that went beyond “research methods” and focused on participatory, inclusive research and stakeholder engagement for climate adaptation. The programme brought together colleagues and students from the Institute of Geography (Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan), JLU Giessen, Baku State University, and external expertise.
Through group discussions, practical exercises and knowledge-sharing sessions, participants worked on identifying key research problems, designing surveys and interviews, and learning how to analyze data in ways that are scientifically rigorous and culturally sensitive. A central element was the integration of local perspectives and traditional knowledge, ensuring that research outcomes are relevant to communities and support context-specific climate adaptation strategies.
The workshop also applied climate-friendly practices, including reduced paper use and greater use of digital tools for collaboration and documentation.
